Teal Tuesday

Thank you for wearing teal for us!  I think it brought us lots of luck because one of my boys got a really good Waiting List number at #5!!  So now we just need to get the three kids in who are on the Sibling Priority List ASAP, then the office can start calling the Waiting List and hopefully get to #5 sometime this upcoming school year.

Teal Tuesday on June 25!

Dear Readers and Fashion Bloggers:

It's Teal Tuesday on June 25th!  Please wear any shade of teal/aqua/turquoise as my good luck charm.   My boys have been entered in our school's lottery to be full-time on-campus students for the 2013-14 school year.  Unfortunately, there are no openings in any grade level, so all names pulled will be placed on the wait list.  Since they are in the Independent Study program, they have no priority in the lottery.  I am hoping the boys' names get chosen early in the process so we can be closer to the top of the wait list this coming fall.  Cross fingers at least one of them gets placed at #1-5!!

So please wear some teal and keep us in your thoughts.  Anything will do.... clothes, accessories, nail polish, jewelry.  On Teal Tuesday I will have a new post of me wearing teal.  In the comments, please post a link with a photo of you wearing teal.  If you know me, you can text or email a photo if you'd like.

Copying Kendi's Chambray Forever

I am attempting to copy Kendi's "Chambray Forever" post from back in July 2012.  I am just getting around to wearing the outfit now, but I purchased the white denim and head wrap in July last year.  I finally found a good version of the chambray shirt last month with the shopping help of Beverly Like Hills.  Kendi's tote works really well as the red heart picks up the color in her head wrap.    I don't have such a cute tote.  What I do have to help tie in the head wrap color is the beautiful nail color on my toes, a gift from the BEST NEIGHBOR ever - Chanel nail color 'April'.

Ritz-Carlton Casual Cocktails Outfit

I'm usually not a sunglasses-on-top-of-my-head girl, but my hair is growing out right now and the sunglasses helped pull my hair back off my face. The other night we got a last minute invitation to go have cocktails and apps at the Ritz-Carlton Club Level lounge. What an amazingly wonderful experience!  The food and company was divine.

Last Year's Favorite Printed Skirt

This was my favorite spring skirt last year.  I seemed to only wear it with the sweater I bought it with, and not much else.  I've decided that this sweater has too much volume to go with this skirt for now anyway, so I'll try pairing with tees and jackets.

I need to remind my little photographer to step a little closer.

Copycat Piperlime French Prep

I copied this outfit from a promotional email from piperlime.com.  This outfit is called "French Prep."  I wanted to skip out on the short denim shorts and wear skinny jeans instead to keep things age-appropriate.  I had a couple of Gap/Old Navy rewards certificates so I was able to get the Splendid Roll-Sleeve blouse at an amazing discount on top of a 20% off coupon.  I am becoming a huge fan of Splendid.  I love their tops so much!

Here's the promotional French Prep email photo I received and tried to copy-  Outfit on the right:

I had my own white linen jacket and jeans.  I bought the exact blouse and necklace as shown in the promotional email from piperlime.com.  I bought similar flats.  The shoes that were shown in the email  I tried to buy as they were on backorder, but they canceled my order and informed me they were unavailable.  :(

This necklace is a bit of a statement on top of the printed blouse.  I like how the white jacket tones it down.   If I wear this blouse alone, I wouldn't wear the necklace.

Copycat Kendi One Year Ago

I've lost count how many times I've copied Kendi.  Here I go again.  I already had these mint jeans, I just had to find the right blue blouse.  Kendi wore this in May 2012. I bought the blue shirt and sandals within a couple of weeks, and I'm just getting around to posting the outfit.  I've worn this shirt, pants and shoes many times, but I never had the right necklace.  I wanted a simple, long silver necklace that would not overpower the shoes.  I just got this one last week.  I don't think I'll be getting sick of navy and mint anytime soon.

My 7-year old is so happy to take my photos for the blog.
