Book Club Outfit

Last night I hosted Book Club for my moms' group.  Somehow I got them to agree to read a book of my favorite genre, a celebrity tell-all book.  We read Stories I Only Tell My Friends:  An Autobiography by Rob Lowe.  We all agreed the front cover picture of him is just really, really, really gorgeous.

It looks like my cardigans are getting big on me.  I really don't want to buy new sizes.

After a year of looking I am so happy I finally found denim bermuda shorts that
1. are a dark rinse and has NO bleaching or whiskering (most important)
2. the hem does not fall below the knee
3. the hem does not fall too high above the knee
4. are mid-rise
These bermudas meet all of my requirements except that they are slightly higher than mid-rise.  A true mid-rise is about 9.5 inches.  This rise is 10.5 inches.  Okay by me.  I found these by Not Your Daughter's Jeans with a big bonus of them being 50% off.  Oh dear, I must be getting older if I'm wearing this brand.  Oh well, they are a beautiful dark rinse with no ugly bleaching on the hips or thighs so they work!  I must remember I am no longer 20 years old.  I can wear these brands now.  LOL!

  1. Love it! So chic and put together right on down to those amazing flats! And I love the shorts! It's so hard to find something like that, isn't it?

So, you didn't mention, how was the book? (Besides really gorgeous...);)

  2. Pear, thank you!! These flats are so comfortable, I love them. I got an amazing deal on them at RueLaLa. This was the first time I found something I wanted at the 2-day Cole Haan boutique.

The book was great. I really enjoyed that he takes you through his career and you just want to cheer him on when he lands his big break, The Outsiders role.

  3. Love this outfit... the yellow flats and turquoise earrings are perfection! Yellow and turquoise is one of my favorite color combos ever.

I have a style question for you! I bought this dress to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks. How would you accessorize?

  4. Allison,
I apologize for this late reply! I love the dress you will be wearing. I would wear two-toned gold and silver earrings and perhaps a bracelet with black in it. You could add some color in your outfit with a printed or solid clutch. I think fuchsia pink, cobalt blue, or purple looks very pretty with silver. For shoes, I would suggest black patent peep-toe pumps or evening sling-backs.

  5. Thanks for the advice! I love the suggestion of a clutch... I'm highly inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge these days, and she's always carrying a clutch. I tried to find a colorful one, but alas, nothing in my budget. I found a cute black one, so although I won't have a splash of color, the clutch is still a nice addition to the dress- so thank you for that!
