An Attempt At Mixing Prints

Over the weekend I saw my sister, and she was wearing mixed prints.  I've been wanting to try mixing prints, but I never seem to know how to do it.  Her outfit was really cute.  I wish I had a photo of her to share.  She wore an orange & fuchsia argyle cardigan with a pink cami that has small white polka-dots and lace trim.  Her outfit inspired me to take a look at my closet to see what prints I could try mixing.  Since I am stepping out of my comfort zone with mixing prints, I thought I'd start with simple navy & white.  I've had this skirt for a couple of years, and I've only worn a plain white scoop tee and brown wedge sandals with this prior to today.  I was actually comfortable with the mixed prints.  I'll need to look in my closet again and see what other prints I can mix.

Psssst.  It was only 71ºF today and I actually wore a skirt without tights.  I was a little cold, but it wasn't too bad.  I just don't see how I could wear tights with this very spring-y skirt.

Out of frustration with the posing, I was asking my husband - what should I do with my hands?

  1. What a gorgeous outfit! I love the blues with the pop of orange, and the prints give the ensemble great presence and visual interest. Plus, it all looks fabulous on you!

  2. hi, i have just found your blog from citizen rosebud, i have been reading through some of your articles, i think you're great! print mixing is a tricky one and i tend not to as i am generally rubbish when i try and mix it up, i just dont have that level of chic to pull it off however i think you have nailed it especially with the orange pumps x

  3. Looks great, you didn't overdo it at all. The pop of orange is just the right hit of color for the outfit,

  4. Allison, thank you for your loyalty to my online journaling/blogging!! You have been there responding to me since day one. :) I am really trying to "add visual interest" to my outfits as Stacy & Clinton always say. I'm so glad you think this one is interesting.

Maria, I'm so glad you found me at Citizen Rosebud. My goal is to comment more in the 40+ fashion blogs. I should stay away from the 20 year old blogs!!

Wanda, thanks! I can't seem to get enough of orange these days.
